However much time you have, there's a plan.

  1. 3-6 weeks out

A simple, elegant first dance: clean steps, a confident start and finish. Usually 3-5 lessons.

  2. 2-4 months out

A polished routine to your song, with time to practice. Usually 5-10 lessons.

  3. 6-12 months out

Fully choreographed, fully rehearsed: plus time to actually enjoy learning. Custom plan.

One nervous partner is normal.

You do not need dance experience to start planning your first dance. Tell your instructor what feels comfortable and what worries you. Start with simple steps and build a routine that suits both of you.
